The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are proud to announce that over 9000 no-charge youth tickets were provided to the community thanks to the generous support of the San Group last season.
The San Group Youth Program is set to enter it’s 3rd season in 2023-2024.
Last season, the Bulldogs saw youth attendance rise over 40% from the previous year. Since the inception of the San Group Youth program, more than 15,000 no-charge youth tickets have been provided to families in the valley. This represents over $180,000 remaining in the pockets of local families.
“The San Group Youth Program has injected new life into our program, and allowed families to enjoy Bulldogs hockey like never before. In today’s financial climate, it’s not easy for a family to have a quality night out together, the San Groups generous support of the community allows that to happen regularly” said Bulldogs president David Michaud. “The atmosphere at Bulldogs home games is well known and envied around the BCHL, the support of the San Group plays a huge part of that electric game night experience for our fans and players.”
“San Group is very humbled and honored to play a support role in the tremendous growth and success of the Bulldogs organization. The future of the Alberni Valley community are the youth. Instilling a sense of civic pride through a well supported hockey organization will create memories and friendships to last a lifetime. We wish David, his support staff and team all the best as they continue to compete to be the best, both on and off the ice.” said San Group Executive Director Suki Sanghera.
The Bulldogs averaged 1242 fans per game during the 22-23 season, up 28 % from the 2021-2022 season. During the Bulldogs playoff run, attendance jumped to an average of 1708 and the club sold out its final 5 games of the playoffs.
Michaud fully expects to see that momentum carry forward to the new season. “The support from the community this summer has been incredible, there is a definite buzz for the new season to start and get back into the Dawg Pound to get the party started all over again!”
