Weekend Preview – Bulldogs and Caps meet in home and home set

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are back in action this weekend as they travel to Duncan to take on the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the Caps? home opener Friday night, before coming home to host the Caps in the back half of the home and home series with their own home opener in front of the rabid fans at the ?Pound Saturday night.

Fridays game will be the first time for any new Bulldogs that weren?t in the BCHL last season to see the ?big stick? and soak in the atmosphere of Cap land.   On the other hand, it?s the first return to Duncan for any returning players since the Bulldogs swept the Capitals out of the first round of the playoffs last year with a 5-3 game 4 win in the Island semi final series on the Capitals home ice.  Catch all the action on your radio on 93.3 The Peak FM in the Alberni Valley, or on your computer through the BCHL?s Fanzone at www.bchl.bc.ca The pregame show is on the air at 7:15 and the puck drop is slated for 7:30.

Saturdays Bulldogs home opener will be the first ?real? opportunity for the new Capitals to see what the Dog Pound is like in a league game, although they will have some idea what to expect after the Dogs and Caps met in Alberni in an exhibition tilt on August 30th that ended in a 6-6 tie.  The pregame show is on the air at 6:45pm with the puck drop at 7:00.

Both teams have one game in the books this season with both teams playing in Powell River last weekend.  The Caps went in Friday night and left Saturday morning on the boat with 2 points after a 2-1 overtime victory.   The Bulldogs returned to the Island with one point after dropping a 7-6 double overtime decision.
