The Bulldogs won their second straight to open the season, and did so in overtime for a second consecutive night, 3-2 over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
Unlike Friday night, the Bulldogs held multiple leads in this contest. After a scoreless first, Wyatt Blace opened the scoring in the back half of regulation, banging in a rebound with assists to Alexander Ståhl and Mac Richardson. Less than a minute later Salmon Arm tied it on a Payton Nelson goal. The Silverbacks pushed for the go-ahead goal late in the period, but Colin Winn put on a show in the Bulldog net, with a series of miraculous saves to protect the tie.
The Bulldogs took the lead back six minutes into the third on the power play, with Grayson Badger burying a one-timer off a Samuel Léonard and Caden Tremblay set up. Salmon Arm quickly countered with a deflection on the power play credited to Ryan Philbrick to make it 2-2. Back to back Bulldog penalty kills in the final five minutes and into overtime kept the game going, before Caden Tremblay won it by driving the net and roofing a Brady McIsaac set up from in tight high short-side to make it a 3-2 final.
Shots were 43-22 Salmon Arm, with Colin Winn earning the victory and 1st star honours in net while Ryan Grout took the loss.
The Bulldogs went 1 for 4 on the power play while the Silverbacks went 1 for 6.
The Bulldogs next see action Friday in Victoria, before returning home to host Chilliwack on Saturday night.
