Bulldog players, staff and billet families attend CMHA training

On Thursday November 24th and  Friday November 25th, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs players, staff, and billet families participated in an event called “Safe Talk.” The British Columbia Hockey League in coordination with the Canadian Mental Health Association offers an educational seminar to any organization in the league. This partnership, titled “Talk Today,” is based off of a model that was used in partnership between the CMHA and the Ontario Hockey League. The training seminar educated the participants on the signs and symptoms of mental illness and when they should be worried.  The goal of the seminar is to provide each individual with more awareness on the topic of mental health and direct them to get the help they need. The Bulldogs organization would like to extend a thank you to Judy North (CMHA Nanaimo) and Michael Klein (Team Chaplain) for leading the program last week. For further information or comment on the above story please contact Alberni Valley Bulldogs’ head coach and general manager Kevin Willison by phone at 250-735-0487 or by email at kevin@albernivalleybulldogs.ca.
