Brown University Bears junior Harry Zolnierczyk has been named Captain for the 2010-2011 men's hockey team in an announcement made by head coach Brendan Whittet. Zolnierczyk finished the 2009-10 season as the Bears' second-leading scorer with 33 points (13g, 20a) in 37 games. Zolnierczyk had his best season to date in a Brown uniform, leading the team in assists and ranking second on the team with four power play goals.
Zolnierczyk spent the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL. Zolnierczyk?s best season came in 2007 when he notched 38 points (20g, 18a) in 47 games and was named Team MVP.
Zolnierczyk, takes over the Captaincy from another Bulldogs alumni, Devin Timberlake. Timberlake served as Brown?s captain from 2008 to 2010 and Alberni Valley?s captain from 2005 to 2007.
The Bulldogs and Bears connection runs even deeper than that. Assistant Coach/GM Paul Esdale was an assistant captain for Brown in the 2002-2003 season.
The Brown University Bears had a re-emerging 2009-2010 season with the help of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs alumni Zolnierczyk and Timberlake. The Bears made it to the ECAC semi-finals for the first time since 2003.
