Bulldogs announce opening night roster for 2018/19 BCHL season

What started as a group of over 45 Alberni Valley Bulldogs hopefuls back on Monday, August 20th has finally been whittled down to the 23 players who will form the team when the 2018/19 BCHL regular season begins tonight in Duncan against the Cowichan Valley Capitals

The opening night roster includes 10 players returning from last year’s squad as well as three veteran offseason pick-ups and 10 rookies. Below is a brief profile of each player, including number of Junior A seasons played, hometown and statistics from the 2017/18 season.

MEET THE 2018/19 ALBERNI VALLEY BULLDOGS

GOALTENDERS

#1 Cole Demers (99) – 3rd Year from Kelowna, B.C. – 10 wins, 11 losses and 1 tie in 26 games with the West Kelowna Warriors, with a 3.88 goals-against average and .889 save-percentage.

#30 John Hawthorne (98) – 2nd Year from Chemainus, B.C. – 15 wins, 24 losses and 2 ties in 45 games with the Bulldogs, with a 3.62 goals-against average and .902 save-percentage.

DEFENCE

#2 Ryan Novecosky (00) – 1st Year from Courtenay, B.C. – 10 goals and 29 assists in 36 games with the Shawnigan Lake School’s Midget Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League and 4 games played as a Bulldogs AP.

#3 Spencer Hora (99) – 3rd Year from Kelowna, B.C. – 1 goal and 3 assists in 13 games with the Bulldogs and 14 points in 35 games with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and West Kelowna Warriors.

#4 Marcus Walter (99) – 4th Year from St. Albert, Alberta – 5 goals and 16 assists in 59 games with the North American Hockey League’s Springfield Junior Blues. Committed to Bentley University.

#7 Cam Cervone (99) – 1st Year from Rochester Hills, Michigan – 6 goals and 9 assists in 32 games with the Belle Tire U18 team in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League.

#8 Darren Rizzolo (98) – 4th Year from Mission, B.C. – 5 goals and 16 assists in 45 games with the Bulldogs.

#20 Aaron Bohlinger (00) – 1st Year from Walden, New York – 2 goals and 3 assists in 9 games with the Omaha AAA Lancers of the High Performance Hockey League and 1 goal in 6 games with the North American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Rebels.

#24 Grayson Valente (00) – 2nd Year from Vancouver, B.C. – 2 assists in 30 games with the Bulldogs.

#12 Jackson Doucet (99) – 2nd Year from Victoria, B.C. – 13 goals and 21 assists in 57 games with the Bulldogs.
