The Alberni Valley Bulldogs scored three times in the first frame to help pace them to a 6-3 victory over the visiting Victoria Grizzlies in Exhibition action Friday night.
Forward Gleb Semenov and defender Grady Magner each had a goal and an assist, while singles came from Arman Adamyan, Eric Lund, Brendan DeFeo, and Eduard Mishikov into an empty net.
After surrendering the first goal, the Bulldogs responded with a trio of markers in just 2 minutes and 37 seconds, to take a 3-1 lead to the dressing room after the first. Alberni Valley outscored Victoria 2-1 in the middle frame, before the clubs exchanged goals in the third.
Netminder Derik Brouillard stopped 31 of 34 for the victory, while Hunter Dryden allowed 5 goals on 28 attempts for the visitors.
The Bulldogs went 0 for 4 on the power play, while the Grizzlies went 1 for 5.
Up next Alberni Valley will visit Nanaimo Saturday night to wrap up pre-season action.
The Bulldogs will then open up the regular season on the road against the Clippers on Friday September 19th, before their 25th home opener on the 18th against the Grizzlies at 6pm.
