Bulldogs Doubled Up On By Clippers

Friday night saw the Nanaimo Clippers visit Weyerhaeuser Arena to take on the Bulldogs in front of a packed house.

The Clippers kicked off the scoring when Russell Goodman scored just 53 seconds into the first period. Brad McConnell extended the Clippers lead to 2-0 going into the first intermission.  In the second period, both teams exchanged power play markers. Joe Perry struck for the Clippers, before James Kerr, on a goal set up by Josh Pineiro and Evan Witt got the Bulldogs on the board. In the third, Carson Schell rounded out the Clippers scoring. Evan Witt cut the lead in half when he converted a power play marker set up by Kerr and Pineiro. This was as close as the Bulldogs would come, as they dropped the game by a final of 4-2.

Evan Smith picked up the win in the Clippers net, stopping 28 shots. Matthew Wong was tagged with the loss, kicking aside 22 shots sent his way.

Notes: Evan Witt, James Kerr and Josh Pineiro all had two point games. Witt was named the Second Star of the game. Next action for the Bulldogs is Saturday October 18th, when they travel to Bear Mountain Arena to take on the Victoria Grizzlies.
