Bulldogs Drop To Capitals

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs were on the road Friday night, visiting the Cowichan Valley Capitals in a matchup of Island Division rivals.

Warren Muir opened the scoring, on the power play, with 6:56 remaining in the first period. Chris Moulson and Brett Mohler were credited with the assists.  Goals were hard to come by at the Cowichan Valley Community Centre, as it took until the 2 minute mark in the 2nd period before Brett Corcoran evened the score. Mitch MacMillan scored the eventual game winning goal in the third period, on the power play, to secure the 2-1 win for the Capitals.

Matthew Wong got the nod in goal for the Bulldogs for the third straight game, stopping 33 shots in the loss. Chris Rawlings back stopped the Capitals, turning aside 29 shots sent his way.

Notes: Rookie Brett Mohler picked up his first BCHL point assisting on the only Bulldogs goal. Next action for the Bulldogs is Saturday, September 20, 2008 when they travel to Victoria to take on the Royal Bank Cup Host Grizzlies.
