Bulldogs Face Crucial Test in Chilliwack

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs (27-17-1-0) face the Chilliwack Chiefs (27-14-4-1) tonight at the Chilliwack Coliseum.  Puck drop is set for 6pm.

The Bulldogs are coming off a disappointing 6-3 loss to the Surrey Eagles last night.  Tied 3-3 early in the 3rd period, the Bulldogs surrendered 3 power play goals to the Eagles the rest of the way.

The Chiefs meanwhile are coming off a hard fought 5-4 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.  The win vaulted the Chiefs 4 points ahead of the Bulldogs for 2nd place in the Coastal Conference standings.  Tonight is virtually a must-win game for the Bulldogs if they have designs on catching the Chiefs and enhancing their playoff positioning.

Callum Tung gets the nod again in goal tonight for the Bulldogs.  His results against the Chiefs have varied this season.  Tung pitched a 27 save shutout earlier in the season and gave up 6 on 37 shots in his last visit to the Coliseum.  Watch for Ottawa Senators draft pick Vladimir Nikitin to get the start for Chilliwack.

Hayden Stavroff scored his 29th goal of the season in last night’s set back and now leads all BCHL scorers heading into action tonight.
