Bulldogs get shutout 5-0 in Trail on Friday

TRAIL- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs opened a three game road on Friday night with a 5-0 loss in Trail to the Smoke Eaters. The Bulldogs continue to battle the flu and injuires and were forced to start an emergency goaltender on Friday. For the second straight game Carlos Siso got the start. Siso is a Calgary, Alberta product who plays with the Nanaimo Buccaneers on of the VIJHL.

Luke Pearson and Jackson Glassford were unable to dress on Friday.

The Bulldogs came out of the gate flying, getting a great scoring chance early. The Bulldogs would get the first power-play of the game but were unable to beat Logan Terness.

The Smoke Eaters would score the only goal in the first period a power-play marker to take a 1-0 lead. The Smoke Eaters out shot the Bulldogs 13-6 in the opening twenty.

In the second, Siso would back two huge saves back-to-back on a Smoke Eaters power-play to keep it a one goal game. However just before the five minute mark of the period the Smoke Eaters would add to their lead making it 2-0. They would add another before the period came to a close, to take a 3-0 lead into the final frame. The Bulldogs would out shoot the home side 13-11 in the second period.

In the third the Smoke Eaters would seal the win with a pair of goals and out shooting the Bulldogs 16-9.

Siso turned away 35 shots in his second career BCHL start.

The Bulldogs fall to 25-25-1-2 on the season and will stop in Penticton on Saturday to battle the 41-12-1-1 Vees. The Bulldogs took the first meeting against the Vees 4-0 back on October 12th at the Dawg Pound. Pearson made 32 saves in that night while Dawson Tritt notched a hat-trick. Puck drop on Saturday is 6 PM.

The Bulldogs will wrap up their weekend road trip with a stop in Merritt on Sunday afternoon.
