The Alberni Valley Bulldogs built up a 4-1 lead through 40 and then survived a Rivermen surge in the 3rd for a 4-3 win and their 12th straight win at the Dawg Pound.
Scoring in the win for the Bulldogs was Josh Zary (25th), Emanuelson Charbonneau (2nd), Arlo Merritt (17th) and Booker Daniel (9th). For Daniel, the goal turned out to be the game winner.
Hobie Hedquist picked up his 27th win of the year as he stopped 27 of 30 in the contest.
The victory puts the Bulldogs in the drivers seat for top spot in the Coastal Conference. The math is simple for the Bulldogs, win tomorrow and they will claim their 1st Coastal Conference Pennant since 2009-2010. It sets up a dream match up for the Bulldogs as they welcome the Nanaimo Clippers the Multiplex at 6:00 pm for the final home game of the regular season.
The Bulldogs are now 34-13-3-1 on the year, and an impressive 21-3-2-0 on home ice. The last time the Bulldogs had 21 wins at the Multiplex was 2009-2010, ironically the last time they earned the Coastal Conference pennant.
