Bulldogs Look to Remain on Top

The Bulldogs have two games left before the Christmas break as they host the Williams Lake Timberwolves Saturday night before they head down to Duncan for a late afternoon game against the Caps on Sunday.
The Dogs enter the weekend on a three game winning streak with a record of 25-10-1 and 2, good for 53 points and a four point lead on the Surrey Eagles for first place in the Coastal Conference.

The Timberwolves enter play Friday night with a record of 9-24-1-0 for 19 points, four points behind the 8th Trail Smoke Eaters and five points back of the 7th placed Merritt Centennials. The T-Wolves have two games in hand on both teams.  Before facing the Bulldogs on Saturday, the Timberwolves are in Duncan Friday night, their third game in as many days on their Coastal Conference road trip. The Timberwolves opened the trip off on the right foot Wednesday night with a 4-2 win in Burnaby over the Express. Thursday night they lost 6-2 in Langley to the Chiefs.
Although the Timberwolves will be playing their fourth game in four days when they arrive at the Pound Saturday, it?s important for the Dogs to not take them lightly as the Timberwolves played the Dogs very tough at the Cariboo Memorial Complex last Saturday. Williams Lake was up 1-0 after one before the Dogs stormed out to a 3-1 lead after two. An early third period goal saw the Dogs up 4-1, but the Timberwolves didn?t quit as they made it 4-2 just two minutes later. The Dogs added a late one to lead 5-2, but again the Timberwolves fought back to make it 5-3. That would be as close as they would get as the Dogs prevailed.
The Broadcast begins with the pregame show live from the Dog Pound on 93.3 The Peak FM at 6:45 with the puck dropping at 7:00pm. Listen live on 93.3 The Peak or

Don?t forget to catch the post game show live at Boston Pizza following the game!
It will be the sixth meeting of the season Sunday between the two teams as the Dogs and Caps tangle at the Big Stick. It will actually be the first of three in a row for the two teams head to head, although it won?t feel that way as they will be separated by the Christmas break.
The Dogs have won all six head to head meetings this season, with the most recent match going to the Dogs by a score of 7-3 at the Pound on December 1st.
The Capitals enter play Friday night with a record of 13-22-0 and 1, good for 27 points and 7th place in the Coastal Conference, three points up on the Burnaby Express.
Barring a rare tie Friday night when they host the Timberwolves, the Caps will enter play Sunday either going for their six with in a row -OR ? they?ll be out looking for some revenge on the Dogs to head into the Christmas break on a good note after a loss to Williams Lake Friday night.
Who knows what will happen Friday when the two teams faceoff, less than a week after the Caps ended their three-in-three Interior swing with a perfect 3 and 0 record after a 5-0 shutout of the Timberwolves in their own barn. One thing is for certain ? the Dogs had best be ready to play as the Caps are playing better hockey of late and they will be a rested team after having Saturday night off.

Get it all on 93.3 The Peak FM with the pregame show at 4:45 and the play-by-play at 5:00 from the Island Savings Centre.
Just two games left for the Dogs as they head into the Christmas Break. If they want to stay in first place and give that great gift to themselves and their fans for Christmas, it will take some considerable focus on Saturday and Sunday to not be distracted by the thoughts of heading home to family, friends, and loved ones for the holidays.
