Bulldogs Look to Take Control of Series

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs look to “hold serve” on home ice tonight and take a 2-0 series lead in the Best of 7 Coastal Conference Quarterfinal series presented by the Dock + tonight in game 2.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

After shaking off some early rust, the Bulldogs rallied from a 2-0 1st period deficit to knock off a pesky Cowichan Valley Capitals squad by a 5-3 score to draw first blood in the series.

The game was played in front of 1396 fans, the largest playoff crowd at the Multiplex since March 18th, 2013.  That night was a sellout with 1854 fans,  could tonight match that?

Brandon Buhr paced the offence and was tremendous all game.  Buhr had a goal and two assists on the night and was one of 5 Bulldogs to register a multi-point game, along with Stephen Castagna (1+1), Josh Zary (1+1), Nicholas Beneteau (2a), and Braden Blace (2a).  Chase Klassen & Ethan Bono had the other markers in the game 1 victory.

The win snapped a dubious 12 game playoff losing streak for the Bulldogs.

Don’t expect any changes in goal for either squad in game 2 as Hobie Hedquist and McCoy Bidewell will be counted on again.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early tonight and enjoy the tailgate party pre-game presented by Five Acre Co. and the San Group. Big Daddy and The Ticks will be on the stage between 5-7pm and a hot dog BBQ will see proceeds head to The Zattzoo Project Society Battle of the Bands 2022.
