Bulldogs Push Streak to 11 Straight at the Dog Pound

Any worry of a “hang over” from yesterday’s big crowd and big win over Surrey was put to rest quickly as the Bulldogs opened the scoring just over a minute into the game and cruised to a 7-3 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs.

The damage was done in the 2nd period, with the score tied 1-1, the Bulldogs exploded for 6 unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead to the locker room after 2 periods of play.

The Chiefs got two back in a very chippy and undisciplined 3rd period that saw Jordan Chudley and Thomas Messineo tossed from the game.

Scoring twice in the victory were Brandon Buhr (20/21) and Josh Zary (23/24).  Arlo Merritt (16th), Ethan Bono (15th) & Finn Brown (15th) rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

Hobie Hedquist was a winner for the 26th time in goal this season as he made 19 saves on another quiet night.  The start was the 10th consecutive for Hedquist.

The Bulldogs finished the season series against the Chiefs with 4 wins in the 5 games. Their only set back was a shootout loss in Chilliwack.

The Bulldogs joined the Penticton Vees as the only clubs to have 20 wins on home ice this season.  The Bulldogs improved to 20-3-2-0 after their 11th straight win at home.  The 11 game streak matches the current season long winning streak of 11 that the Vees ran up between October 8th and December 4th.

Overall the Bulldogs season record improved to 33-13-3-1.  They now find themselves 5 points ahead of the Langley Rivermen, though Langley does hold a game in hand.

The Bulldogs have just 4 games remaining in the regular season.  They are home next weekend against the Rivermen and Clippers before concluding the season on with a pair on the road in Coquitlam and in Langley to close out the regular season against the Rivermen.
