The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are would like to officially announce the signings of defenseman Cole Slaney (Quesnel, BC) and forward Mackenzie Wight (Chilliwack, BC).
The 5-foot-10 Slaney has spent the last 10 Games with the team as an affiliate player. Slaney graduates to the Bulldogs from the Campbell River Storm of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League where he scored 29 Points (8 Goals and 21 Assists) in 55 Career Games.
Wight made his BCHL debut this past weekend and has already made an immediate impact on the ice. After being named the Fortis BC Energy Player of the Game in Saturday’s 4-1 win against the Trail Smoke Eaters, Wight scored his first two BCHL goals during Sunday’s 5-4 double overtime loss to the Powell River Kings. Wight comes to the Bulldogs from the Western Hockey League’s Seattle Thunderbirds, where he appeared in 6 Games earlier this season.
During this time, the Bulldogs have released forward Alexander Uryga. The team travels to Duncan to face the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Wednesday night to begin 7 consecutive games on the road. The next home game is Sunday December 11th when the Bulldogs face the Wenatchee Wild on Teddy Bear Toss night.
