Bulldogs Take Game 5 in Another Close Affair

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs forced Game 6 tomorrow night in Langley after knocking off the Rivermen 2-1 in front of 1320 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Friday night.

After a scoreless opening frame, largely dominated by the Bulldogs, Alberni Valley finally opened the scoring 5:44 into the 2nd period as Emanuelson Charbonneau fired home a seeing eye shot past Ajeet Gundarah. For Charbonneau it was his 1st of the playoffs.

Daneil O’Neill jammed home the tying goal late in the 2nd for his 1st of playoffs to send the Bulldogs and Rivermen to locker room deadlocked at 1-1.

In the 3rd period, Josh Van Unen (2nd) ripped home the winner at 7:38 of the period.

Hobie Hedquist was good when called upon again tonight as he stopped 21 of 22 for the win.  His counterpart Ajeet Gundarah was equally good as he stopped 33 of 35 for the Rivermen in yet another strong performance.
