Bulldogs Thump Capitals 5-1 in Exhibition Game

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are feeling great after Friday night’s win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals by a score of 5-1. This was the first of two games back-to-back for the Bulldogs in their final pre-season tune-up.

In the first period, the Bulldogs would set the tone for the rest of the match as they would take a 2-0 lead by the end of the period. The two Bulldogs’ goal scorers were Brandon Buhr and Ryan Nause.

Shots were 14-9 for the Capitals.

In the middle frame, the Capitals would strike just 37 seconds into the period to make it 2-1. But the Bulldogs would continue the offensive pressure and score two more goals again to make it 4-1 by the second intermission. Ethan Leyer and Steve Castagna were the two Bulldogs goal scorers in that period.

Shots were 17-9 for the Capitals, bringing the total to 31-18.

In the final 20 minutes, the Bulldogs would put the nail in the coffin and make it 5-1 on Buhr’s second goal of the game. Bringing his pre-season total goals to four. And Bulldogs goalie Hobie Hedquist would have another stellar performance. Stopping 39 of the 40 shots he faced to give the Bulldogs the victory.

By then end, the shots were even at 9-9, which brought the final total to 40-27 for the Capitals.
