Clippers come from behind, beat Bulldogs in OT

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs returned home Wednesday night and played host to the Nanaimo Clippers in front of 990+ fans at the Multiplex where the Clippers would ruin the party with an overtime win.

During the first period the Clippers would get ahead by two goals, first on the powerplay by Parker Colley followed by an even strength goal by Tristan Crozier.

With just over 30 seconds to go into the first period Cole Poliziani would pop his 10th goal of the season on the powerplay assisted by Paul Selleck and Jackson Doucet.

The Bulldogs would tie things up in the second period by Mitch Oliver assisted by Darren Rizzolo and Jackson Doucet on the powerplay and that would be all the score sheet saw during that period.

Both teams would exchange a goal each first by Cole Poliziani followed by a late goal by Jake Harris of the Clippers to send it to overtime.

At 2:12 in the first overtime Clippers’ David Melaragni would score to end the game.

John Hawthorne kicked away 34 of 38 shots he faced.
