Columbia Ice Weekend Update: Weekend ends in OT win, suffer two losses

Photo from: Salmon Arm Silverbacks
It was not the weekend Head Coach Matt Hughes had hoped for for his team as they went 1-2 on yet another three game road trip over the water.

In the first game things were looking great after the first twenty minutes where the Bulldogs were leading 2-1, goals by Ryan Miotto and Mitch Deelstra however after getting into some penalty trouble in the second they were down 3-2.

Ryan Miotto would tie things up early in the third but the Silverbacks would score the game winner on the powerplay at 16:39 followed by an empty netter to take the game 5-3.

In game two at the Kal Tire Centre in Vernon the Bulldogs couldn’t capitalize on any opportunities while the Vipers were.

With three powerplay goals the Vipers would end up taking the game 5-1 with the lone goal for the Bulldogs coming in at 8:22 of the second period scored by Jackson Doucet on the powerplay.

In the final game of the weekend it did not start well as the RIvermen would score two unanswered goals in the first period to lead 2-0 after 1.

The Bulldogs would tie things up in the second with two goals of their own first by Keaton Mastrodonato followed by Tanner Pochipinkski first of his career. End of the second we were all tied up.

The third period both teams were kept off the score sheet so we were headed to overtime.

Early into the overtime Jackson Doucet would get a breakaway and beat Braedon Fleming to take the game!
