The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are proud to announce that Bulldogs? 20 year old defenceman Ryan Corbiell has committed to the University of Wisconsin Superior for the 2010-2011 school year.
The Wisconsin Superior Yellow Jackets play in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Conference of the NCAA Division 3. Corbiell came to the Bulldogs from the Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in 2008 and was a solid defenceman for the Dogs for the past two seasons. An injury forced him to miss that last part of the 2009-10 season but he remained with the team and provided some great off-ice leadership.
Bulldogs Head Coach Paul Esdale stated, ?We are extremely pleased to see Ryan commit to an NCAA school. He worked hard and was a real leader for us even when out of the line-up. We want to thank Ryan for his contributions to the Bulldogs and wish him all the best as he continues his hockey career and his education. We have no doubt he will do well at Wisconsin Superior.?
Bulldogs Educational Advisor Tom McEvay commented, ?Ryan is a good student and he took college courses while here at North Island. He is well prepared to move on to college fulltime as he also pursues his hockey ambitions. It was a pleasure working with Ryan the past two years. ?
