Disappointing loss to the Nanaimo Clippers

Finally after a long off season for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs Hockey is back and for over 100 Bulldogs fans they traveled to Nanaimo for the Season Opener where unfortunately the Clippers would prevail to be the better team in the game winning 5-3.

During the first twenty minutes of the game it was all Bulldogs first at 6:32 Cayden Kraus would get the first goal of season assisted by Darren Rizzolo which was followed by a powerplay goal by Julian Benner to head into the dressing room with a 2-0 lead.

Second period it was quiet on the score sheet with Nanaimo getting the lone goal at 12:38 by Parker Colley assisted by David Silye.

In the third period it appeared that the Bulldogs ran out of gas as Nanaimo would score three unanswered goals within two minutes, first by Brady Lynn, second by Tristan Crozier and third by Ben Pirko.

Head Coach Matt Hughes would eventually call a timeout where shortly after the Bulldogs would score to bring the game within one goal by Christian Simeone but Nanaimo would end it with an empty netter by their Captain Jamie Collins, 5-3 Nanaimo to open the season.

The Bulldogs are now off until next Friday when the Victoria Grizzlies are in town, 7:00PM puck drop.
