Dogs drop 3-0 decision to Centennials

The Bulldogs finished their road trip Saturday night when they visited the Centennials in Merritt. While the Dogs fought hard with a 0-0 tie after two periods, the Centennials won the third to send the Dogs to their sixth straight loss.

The game was back and forth through the first two periods, with neither team able to find the net with the Centennials holding a 24-13 advantage in shots. The Bulldogs took a penalty to end the second, and the trend continued through the third period as they spent ten of the final twenty minutes of the game in the penalty box and it ended up costing them. While they killed off the penalty to start the third, they took another one just a minute later which saw the Centennials open the scoring as Sebastien Pare put a pass off the net that was deflected home by Derek Huisman to make it 1-0 at 6:47 of the third. The Dogs would have a great chance to tie it shortly afterwards on the rush by Tyler Steel made one of the best saves of the season robbing Evan Anderson with a great glove save. It was tough for the Dogs to stage a comeback as they continued to take penalties, following up a too-many-men penalty with another one just half a minute later. While they killed off both penalties the Centennials would pad the lead just seconds later when Tyler Martin scored on a shot through traffic from the point at 15:10 to make it 2-0. The Centennials would finish the scoring into an empty net as the Dogs went for broke when  Scott Patterson scored from Kevin Lohan with six seconds left for the 3-0 final.

Final shots favoured the Centennials 37-23 with Jay Deo taking the loss but earning 2nd star honours while Tyler Steel picked up 1st star honours with the win and the shut out. The Dogs went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Centennials went 1 for 5.
