Hobie Hedquist and Joe Martin had their season long work recognized by the BCHL as the duo were named finalists for a pair of league honours.
Hedquist has been named a finalist for the BCHL’s Top Goaltender Award. The native of Heron Lake Minnesota impressed many with his play during his 1st season in the BCHL as he posted a record of 28-9 with a 2.53 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. No other goaltender played more than Hedquist’s 2470 minutes this season. Hedquist also registered 5 shutouts, a number that tied the Bulldogs franchise record.
Martin meanwhile has been nominated for the BCHL Coach of the Year award, the Joe Tennant Memorial Trophy. Martin last won the prestigious award back in 201-2019 when he guided the Merritt Centennials. Martin led the Bulldogs to their best record since the 2009-2010 season and helped them claim their 1st Coastal Conference Pennant since that same season. The Bulldogs are 72-48-12 since Martin took over the reigns before the 2019-2020 season.
