Lalonde Hat-Trick Powers Bulldogs to 6th Straight Win

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs defeated the Cowichan Valley Capitals 5-3 on Friday night in Duncan for their 6th straight win overall, and their 6th straight win in the season series against the Caps.

A first period natural hat-trick from rookie Philippe Lalonde powered the Bulldogs attack on the night.  For Lalonde, the goals were his 3rd, 4th & 5th of the season since joining the Bulldogs.

The Caps pushed back and made it a 3-2 game in the 2nd period before the Bulldogs got a late marker from Matt Kursonis (5th) to make it 4-2 after 40 minutes.

In the 3rd, Caps once again pulled within a goal thanks to a power play marker, but Kursonis put the game away with his 2nd of the night and 6th of season into the empty net.

Callum Tung was victorious in goal as he stopped 30 of 32 for his 17th win on the year.

The win moves the Bulldogs to 24-14-0-0 on the season as they head into their match against the Surrey Eagles.  Surrey knocked off the Nanaimo Clippers 1-0 at the Frank Crane Arena.
