Spiridakis making an impact

At 16 years of age Austin Spiridakis is already making a big impact with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs as a skilled forward who is fun to watch.

Spiridakis who is committed Quinnipac University for the 2021-22 season joined the Bulldogs this season after Head Coach Matt Hughes went to watch him play “Matt kept in contact with me the whole time and I came to spring camp and loved it, loved the city and the entire organization.” mentioned Spiridakis.

As of Friday afternoon on October 5th Spiridakis has played in seven games for the Bulldogs tallying two points, a goal and an assist.

The goal came back in the showcase against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on the penalty kill, where Spiridakis was going for a line change but ended up on a breakaway “I had already been out there for a while so I was heading to the bench for a change, then Silverbacks d-man fumbled the puck and next thing I know I am on a breakaway.” Spiridakis mentioned smiling “Didn’t think my first goal was going to be like that…but I will take it.”

In just a few games it is easy for the Bulldogs fans to see Spiridakis get comfortable with the style of the BCHL and shouldn’t be surprised to see him on the scoring sheet more often.
