Tung Shines Again as Bulldogs Steal Game 2

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs defeated the Chilliwack Chiefs 3-1 on Saturday night at the Chilliwack Coliseum to take a 2-0 lead in the best of 7 Coastal Conference Semifinals presented by Van Isle Ford.

Good thing for the Bulldogs games aren’t won based on the shot clock.  Chilliwack outshot the Bulldogs 34-11 on the night, yet fell to victim to Callum Tung once again.

Tung was named the games 1st start for the 4th straight contest as he made 33 saves and helped the Bulldogs grit out a greasy road win.  Tung has now stopped 62 of 64 shots in the series. Pushing it back to Game 6 against Coquitlam, and Tung has now stopped 140 of his last 144 shots, good for a .972 save % over that time.

Hayden Stavroff scored twice, including one into the empty-net to give the Bulldogs the insurance marker they needed as the Chiefs pushed with the net empty.  After leading the BCHL in goal scoring during the regular season, he’s picked up right where he left off.  Stavroff now has 8 post season goals for the Bulldogs.

Neither club was able to score on the man-advantage again tonight. The Chiefs were 0 for 4, while the Bulldogs were 0 for 2.

The Bulldogs now head home winner’s of six straight in the playoffs against the Chiefs.  Based on the Chiefs effort tonight, they won’t go quietly and the Bulldogs should expect an even bigger push in Game 3 when the scene shifts back to the Dawg Pound.

The box office is open 10am to 5pm on Monday, and 10 am on Game Day Tuesday.  You can also buy your tickets online by CLICKING HERE.
