Bulldogs Drop Showcase Affair with Chiefs

The road woes for the Bulldogs continued Wednesday night in Chilliwack as the Bulldogs dropped a 5-2 decision to the Chilliwack Chiefs at the BCHL Showcase Festival at the Chilliwack Colliseum.

Things started well enough as Jackson Munro opened the scoring just 19 seconds into the game. Tyler Cristall’s first of the season at 13:59 of the 1st period pulled the Chiefs even before the first period came to an end.  The story of the 1st period of play was the effort of Bulldogs goaltender Jackson Glassford as the Chiefs poured 24 shots his way.

Austin Spiridakis pulled the Bulldogs back in front early in the 2nd, however it was all Chilliwack from there.

Tied 2-2 through 40 minutes, the Chiefs pulled away with three 3rd period goals to pull away.

Chilliwack was 2-4 with the man-advantage while the Bulldogs were 0-4.

Glassford finished the night with 44 saves.

With the loss, the Bulldogs have now dropped 4 in a row and have falled to 3-8-0 on the year.

The Bulldogs will look to right the ship today when they take on the Merritt Centennials at 4:30 pm.  The contest marks the 1st game that new Bulldogs head coach and general manager Joe Martin will face his former team.  Martin spent the previous 8 seasons with the Cents before joining the Bulldogs this off-season.
