All Good Things Come to an End, Clippers End Bulldogs Streak

They didn’t trail for the games first 57 minutes, but as the old saying goes, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.  The Clippers got a late power play goal from Sean Donaldson before an empty netter made it a 4-2 final.

The loss ended the Bulldogs home ice winning streak at 12, and in the process failed to clinch the Coastal Conference pennant.

Scoring the loss for the Bulldogs were Josh Zary (26th) and Josh Van Unen (18th).  The goal gave Zary a 5 game goal streak.  Zary & Van Unen each added an assist as well.

Jeremie Payant (12), Jake Hewitt (10th), Sean Donaldson (33rd) and Brody Waters (11th) into the empty next scored for the Clippers.

Cooper Black bounced back after a sub par performance against Langley on Friday to stop 33 of 35 in goal for the Clippers.  Hobie Hedquist allowed 3 goals on just 15 shots.  The play was tilted for long stretches in the Bulldogs favour, but the Clippers made the most of their limited chances.

The Bulldogs power play was 0 for 4 and gave up another short handed goal.  The Clippers were 1 for 3 on the power play.

The Bulldogs fall to 34-14-3-1, while the Clippers improved to 30-16-3-1 and are now eight points behind the Bulldogs will 4 games remaining on their schedule.  The Bulldogs are now off until next Friday when they travel to Coquitlam to face the surging Coquitlam Express.  Nanaimo is back at it on Wednesday when they face Victoria.
