The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are excited to announce the addition of 2006 born Goaltender Mitchell Kathler for the 2025-2026 season.
The 19 year old Kathler is 6’1 185 pounds and is from Airdrie, Alberta. He had a record of 25-11 and 1 in 37 games with the with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Portage Terriers in 2024-2025, with a goals against average of 2.41, to go with a save percentage of .917 with 5 shutouts.
In the post season he went 4-5-2, with 1 shutout, a G.A.A of 2.30 and a save percentage of .924
Kathler was the 2025 recipient of the MJHL’s Kim Davis award, given to the league’s Rookie of the Year.
Bulldogs Head Coach and G.M Joe Martin commented on the addition: “Mitchell is a very capable goalie, we’re excited for him to join our group”
On moving on from Jake Shingles, Martin continued: “Jake’s been great here in his short time, and will be a great Junior goalie.”
The Bulldogs visit the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday night.
Their next home game is this Saturday, September 27th, when they host the Langley Rivermen
Local Youth 18 and under receive free admission when accompanied by an Adult, thanks to the Tseshaht First Nation.
