Bulldogs and Caps – Round 2

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs (25-17-13-1) host the Cowichan Valley Capitals (10-32-2-2) at the Alberni Valley Multiplex tonight at 7:00 pm.  The contest is the 2nd of 3 stratight for the Bulldogs at home against the Caps.

Cowichan Valley is coming off a 4-3 OT loss to the Clippers last night in Duncan, while the Bulldogs had a rare Friday night off.

Last Saturday, the Bulldogs took over the Capitals in the 3rd period to pull out a 4-1 win.  The Bulldogs lead the season season series 3-2 and have now won 3 in a row over their rivals from Duncan.

Nicholas Beneteau comes into action riding a 16-game point streak.  Beneteau has 27 points in that stretch.  Beneteau is just one game off Bradley Nadeau’s 17-game point streak for the season long streak in the BCHL this season.

Beneteau’s hot-streak has propelled him to the top of the Bulldogs scoring race with 46 points in 45 games.  Will Elger, Dakota MacIntosh, Ethan Bono, and Matthew Maltais are grouped together in hot pursuit.

The Bulldogs are joined by Coquitlam, Victoria and Chilliwack in a battle for playoff positioning. Just 3 points are separating the 4 teams.  With just 8 games remaining on the Bulldogs schedule, points are at a premium right now.  To make things even more intense, all 4 clubs are playing some of their best hockey of the season.  Chilliwack, Victoria and the Bulldogs all have just 2 losses in their past 10 games, while Coquitlam isn’t far behind with just 3.

After this weekend, the Bulldogs will face the Victoria Grizzlies for a pair of crucial games at the Q Centre.
