The Powell River Kings picked up a 3-2 OT win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Thursday night in the BCHL pre-season opener for each club.

Ethan Jones and Stephen Castagna scored for the Bulldogs while both Luke Pearson (1 goal against) and Aaron Trotter (2 goals against) were solid between the pipes for the Bulldogs.

Final shots on the night favoured the River Kings 32-28 on the night.

The crowd was in mid-season form as Grayson Valente was hit with a boarding call with 26.1 seconds remaining in the game.  The call set the stages for Jack Brackett’s game-winner just 29 seconds into the extra session.

Bulldogs head coach and general manager Joe Martin was pleased with the effort from his squad. “I think it was a solid debut, it was nice to be able to get into some game situations and get a good look at some players who we think can be solid contributors to our club this year, all in all, I’m happy.”

The same two clubs, albeit with significantly different rosters will take to the ice tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
