Bulldogs drop Sunday tilt with Eagles

The Bulldogs dropped their second game of the weekend, losing 3-1 to the Surrey Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

The chances were slow in coming during the first two periods, as the Eagles hit the crossbar on an early power play and the Bulldogs’ Ethan Jones nearly put his team ahead when he walked past a Surrey defender but couldn’t finish at the net. But neither team could find the scoreboard and the game remained tied 0-0 heading into the third.

Ryan Miotto finally opened the scoring early in the third period, but the Eagles bounced back with a pair of goals just 37 seconds apart to take control of the game. The Bulldogs pressed for an equalizer but Liam Ryan scored into an empty net as the seconds wound down to cement the win.

The Bulldogs are back in action Thursday when they travel to Victoria to face the Grizzlies.
