Bulldogs End Season With Win

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs closed out their season in style with an exciting 4-3 overtime win over the Powell River Kings.

The first period saw the Kings jump out to the lead with a power play goal by Denis Semenov at 2:08 of the first period.

Ben Payne kicked off the scoring for the ?Dogs on a goal set up by Lee Patzer and Jackson Garrett. Garrett put the Bulldogs ahead going into the third period, when Zack Mazo slid him the puck, and he made no mistake.

James Kerr extended the lead in the third period on a goal from Daniel Moriarty and Marcello Ranallo. The Kings fought back to tie the game and send it to overtime on goals from Brennan Stang and Mitch MacMillan.

Captain Daniel Moriarty ended the game just 8 seconds into the extra frame, on a goal set up by James Kerr.

Harrison May turned aside 24 shots in the win for the Bulldogs, while Evan Karambelas stopped 21 shots in the loss for the Kings.

Notes: Daniel Moriarty ended his career with the Bulldogs in fine fashion, scoring the overtime winner and setting up James Kerr?s third period goal.  Moriarty will join the Harvard Crimson next season and the Bulldogs wish him continued success. James Kerr with his 2-point performance finished his rookie season with 14 goals and 29 assists, while playing in all 60 games. Kerr is just one of two players to play in every game this season, Marcello Ranallo was the other. Ranallo will suit up for the University of Connecticut Huskies next season. With 21 players eligible to return next season, the Bulldogs are looking forward to icing a strong club in the Costal Conference in the 2008-2009 season.
