Bulldogs Drop To Express

The ?Dogs continued their road trip as they visited the Bill Copeland Arena and the Burnaby Express Saturday night.

 

Chris Moulson got the Bulldogs on the board first, opening the scoring less then 2 minutes into the first period, Warren Muir and Mark Morikawa drew the assists. The Express took over, scoring 3 unanswered goals including a short-handed marker by Jordan Soquila. Rich Manley and Brodie Reid had the other first period goals for the Express.

 

The second period saw the explosive Bulldogs power play click again, as Morikawa scored his 10th goal of the season. Lee Patzer and Marcello Ranallo set up the power play tally. The Express replied with Greg Bay finding the board. Warren Muir notched his 3rd goal of the weekend to cut the lead before Spencer Bennett replied for the Express.

 

The third period saw a lot of back and forth action with Reid Edmondson scoring the first goal of the period.  Chris Moulson, with his second goal of the game, showed how dangerous the ?Dogs power play was scoring at 16:02 of third period. Muir and Morikawa each recorded assists on the goal, the 3rd point of the night for both players.  Jordan Soquila closed out the scoring, giving the Express 7-4 win.

 

The shots on goal were 43 for the Express while the Bulldogs directed 25 shots at goaltender Robert Irwin.

 

Notes: Warren Muir extended his consecutive game point streak to 4 games with his 3-point performance.  Referee Mike Basford had a slow night, as both teams combined for 12 minutes in penalties The ?Dogs power play continued to impress, going 2-4 with the man advantage.
