It was all treats and no tricks as a trio of Russians combined for 17 points as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs haunted the visiting Langley Rivermen 10-4, on Hallowe’en night.
Eduard Mishikov scored 4 goals with an assist, while Gleb Semenov added 7 helpers, and Arman Adamyan had a 5 point night with a goal and 4 assists.
The trio, including others showed up to the rink in 70’s disco costume, and pulled off some dance moves.
“It’s nice to see the guys just be a little bit loose, have some fun and still care to win.” said Head Coach and GM Joe Martin.
The Bulldogs scored 3 in the first, then 3 in the second before adding 4 more in the third, while holding period leads of 3-1 and 6-3.
“It’s nice when you win and score that amount because the teaching lessons aren’t the goals against, they aren’t taken as bad.” mentioned Martin on giving up 4 goals,
“The athlete can look at those and know that they didn’t really impact the game negatively, and still feel good about the win and try to get better in those little details. There’s some things to things to clean up for sure.”
Captain Grady Magner scored twice, while Rim Giniyatullin and Trevor O’Dell notched their firsts with the club, and Andrea Meunier added a single.
Langley out shot Alberni Valley 45-35 on the night, but Derik Brouillard made 41 saves for his 5th win of the season. Both Rivermen goaltenders, starter Bor Glavic and Greyson Moroz in relief, conceded 5 goals a piece.
The Bulldogs power play went 3 for 4, while the visitors went 2 for 5.
Alberni Valley improves to 9-5 on the season, winning 6 of their last 7 contests which pulls them into a tie for 1st in the Coastal West Division with Victoria and Nanaimo.
Up next they’ll visit the Grizzlies Wednesday night at 7pm.
