Bulldogs Look to Get on Track

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs (1-3-0-0) look to snap a 3 game losing streak as they host the Cowichan Valley Capitals (3-2-0-0) at the Multiplex tonight at 7:00 pm.

The Caps have knocked off the Bulldogs twice already this season, both occasions were in Duncan.  A pair of 3-1 wins have left the Bulldogs feeling snake-bite and frustrated as they easily controlled the pace of play on both occasions.

In the first game, Macoy Bidewell made 49 saves, while Lukas Renaud made 36 in the 2nd contest. 2 goals on 87 shots are not the results the Bulldogs are accustomed to.

This early in the year, it’s hard to say that this is a must win game, however a good weekend starts tonight and the Bulldogs spirits would certainly be lifted with a solid effort tonight.

Callum Tung will be tasked with goaltending duties tonight as Hobie Hedquist deals with an injury that will hold him out in the short-term.  Tung was solid in his BCHL debut as he stopped 29 of 32 shots in a 3-1 loss to Cowichan on Sept 30th.

Special teams have been struggling out of the gate, and were  a contributing factor in last weekends loss to the Powell River Kings. The power play is just 2 for 14 on the year, and the penalty kill has fallen to 75%.  After a week of work, expect to see improvements.
