Bulldogs Look to Pick Up Where They Left Off

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs look to pick up where they left off prior to the Christmas break as they host the Cowichan Valley Capitals tonight at 7:00 pm.

The Bulldogs knocked off the Surrey Eagles 7-2, and the Chilliwack Chiefs 4-2 to head into the Christmas break.  The Bulldogs are a conference best 7-2-1-0 in their past 10 games and their run has vaulted themselves into 2nd place in the Coastal Conference in the process.

The Bulldogs face a Capitals team that seems to have found their mojo of late.  After a horrible start, Cowichan has been much improved of late and are a respectable 4-5-0-1 in their previous 10 games.  With a record of 7-18-0-1 on the year, the Caps still find themselves on the outside of the Coastal Conference playoff picture, however they’re closing ground on both Coquitlam & Powell River in the chase for the 8th and final playoff spot.

The Bulldogs are a perfect 3-0-0-0 against the Caps this year, and are 11-4-1-0 over the past 5 years head-to-head with Cowichan.  The rusts have been there, but they haven’t come easy.  Outside of a 6-2 win on Oct 17th, the other two matchups have been tightly contested games that could have gone either way.

Brandon Buhr has held the hot stick vs the Caps this season with 4 goals and 3 assists in 3 games.  David Jacobs for Cowichan has posted 1 goals and 4 assists in his 3 games against the Bulldogs.

After tonight, the Bulldogs will head to Duncan on New Year’s Day to wrap up the back end of this home and home set.

Capacity for tonight’s game is reduced to 50%, meaning the Bulldogs can safely welcome 950 fans into the Multiplex for the game. Tickets can be purchased at the Box office, or by CLICKING HERE
