Bulldogs Make Pair of Transactions

PORT ALBERNI- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have completed a pair of transactions as they finalize their roster for the upcoming 2021-2022 British Columbia Hockey League’s 60th Anniversary season.

The first transaction saw 2002 born Defenceman Cameron Newson (Surrey, B.C.)  moved to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Grande Prarie Storm in return for Future Considerations. Newson played in 41 Regular Season and Playoff games in a Bulldog sweater, as well as last Fall’s extended preseason, scoring one goal and adding six assists.

Joe Martin commented on the move. “Throughout the spring and summer we acquired several Defenceman and during our preseason every player performed well. I believe this trade will allow the players involved to get more ice time”

In a separate transaction, the Bulldogs sent 2001 born Forward Adam Jeffrey (Leamington, ON) to the Cowichan Valley Capitals for Future Considerations. Jeffrey joined the Bulldogs for the 2021 Pod Season last spring, where he played in all 20 games and scored eight goals while adding eleven assists for nineteen points to be named the Bulldogs’ Most Improved Player of the Pod season

General Manager Joe Martin on the move, said “Our forward group this year has a lot of depth. Unfortunately, we needed to move great teammates, but this trade is good for all parties involved.”

The Bulldogs would like to thank Cameron and Adam for their time and commitment to the Bulldogs, and wish them luck as they move on to the next chapter of their careers.

The Bulldogs conclude their preseason schedule with a home-and-home series with the Cowichan Valley Capitals this weekend. They open the Regular Season next Friday, October 8th when they visit the Victoria Grizzlies.
