Bulldogs Sign Gorges

Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce the addition of 1990 born Liam Gorges to their club. Gorges is currently leading all KIJHL defensemen in offence with an average of 1.1 points per game. A Kelowna native, Gorges is a graduate of the Okanagan Rockets Major Midget program and was being pursued by other BCHL teams.

“Liam is a very good prospect who will come into our program and gain valuable experience this season on our blue line.” commented Alberni Valley GM Bryant Perrier. “I have always believed that a team needs to build from the back end out. Liam brings a dynamic quality with his skill level. However, this is still a young player who needs to learn the game at this level. This is about experience and building for the future with a player who is possibly the KIJHL's best defenseman. We are thrilled to have Liam here.”

The Bulldogs would like to thank the Nelson Leafs for their co-operation throughout the process.

“Obviously, it is never easy to lose one of the best players in the league, but (Nelson GM) Simon Wheeldon is a professional who wants what is best for his players and Simon and I have a strong history,” Perrier said. “Simon has things in perspective and that is why he is one of Western Canada's best coaches.”

In other news, the Bulldogs have brought in 6 foot 2, 190 pound Kelowna native Brody Lynott from the Summerland Sting for game experience. “Brody is a big, tough, strong defenseman who is going to be a physical presence in this league,” said Perrier, who was named the Bulldogs GM a week ago. “Once again, you build a team from the back end out. If we don't get to these players now, they won't be around in six months.”
