Bulldogs Soar Past Eagles in Lopsided Win

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs got a little early Christmas cheer on the road in Surrey last night as they stopped the Eagles five-game winning streak with a resounding 7-2 win in front of 655 fans at the South Surrey Arena on Teddy Bear Toss Night.

The Bulldogs were full marks for the road win as they jumped out to an early lead and really never looked back.

The Bulldogs attack was led by the veteran presence of captain Stephen Castagna & Booker Daniel. The 20-year old each scored twice in the win for the Bulldogs.  Josh Zary also scored, and assisted on two more, while Ethan Leyer and Chase Klassen also scored in the win.  Ryan Nause contributed 4 assists.  Add it all up and Bulldogs 20-year olds accounted for 5 goals and 8 assists in the game.

Hobie Hedquist stopped 23 of 25 Eagles shots for his 11th win of the season in goal. The Bulldogs torched Max Prazma for 7 goals on 28 shots to take the loss in the Eagles net.

The special teams were also perfect on the night for the Bulldogs as the power play connected in it’s lone opportunity and the penalty kill was a perfect 3 for 3.

With the Victory the Bulldogs improved 14-8-3-0 while the Eagles dropped to 13-10-0-0

The Bulldogs will now travel up the highway to face the red hot Chilliwack Chiefs at 7:00 pm. Chilliwack is 8-1-0-1 in their past 10 and have shot up the Coastal Conference standings. Both clubs are winners of two straight and will be the final contest before the BCHL’s Christmas break.
