Bulldogs Stay Hot with Win Over Chiefs

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs pushed their win streak to 3 straight on Saturday night as they closed out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with a 4-2 win over the Chilliwack in Chiefs at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

The Bulldogs came flying out of the gate and found themselves up 3-0 after 20 minutes of play on the Chiefs.

Chilliwack would chip away and get on the board in the 2nd before pulling to within one goal mid-way through the 3rd period.

The Bulldogs would ice the game on the power play as affiliate player Diego Buttazzoni scored his 1st BCHL goal to make it 4-2 late in the 3rd. The goal was assisted by his brother Mirko Buttazzoni, making an already special goal that much better.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Finn Brown, Nicholas Beneteau & Josh Zary with his team-leading 15th of the season.

Despite not having sniper Brandon Buhr, Booker Daniel, & losing Josh Zary for the game in the 2nd period, the Bulldogs grinned out an impressive win against a Chiefs team that was as hot as any heading into the game.

Hobie Hedquist was sensational in goal for Alberni Valley as he stopped 28 of 30 and was named the games 1st star.

The victory moved the Bulldogs into 2nd place in the Coastal Conference as the BCHL pauses for Christmas. The Bulldogs are now 15-8-3-0 on the year and moved to 7-7-1-0 on the road.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday December 29th at the Dawg Pound as they host the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
