Dogs’ Doubled Up On

The Cowichan Valley Capitals visited Weyerhaeuser Arena Saturday night in a rematch from a Wednesday night Bulldogs? win in Cowichan.

Eliot Raibl got the scoring started when he converted on a goal set up by Chris Moulson and Warren Muir. The Dog?s held onto the 1-0 lead going into the first intermission. In the second the Capitals drew even when Jake Bouma scored early into the second frame. Chris Moulson restored the slim lead when he picked up his team leading 11th point. Eric Fraser drew the assist on Moulson?s goal. Mickey Spencer knotted the game for the Capitals before Chris Zaires put them ahead 3-2 going into the third period. In the third Scott Jacklin iced the game for the Capitals when he scored into the empty net with 2 seconds remaining.

Chris Rawlings picked up the win in the Capitals net, turning aside 28 shots sent his way. Matthew Wong turned in another strong performance, despite the loss, turning aside 28 shots.

Notes: Matthew Wong was named the games Second Star. He has now been a game star in 3 consecutive games. Chris Moulson is averaging just under a point a game, he now has 2 goals 9 assists in 12 games. Next action for the Bulldogs is Wednesday October 15th, when they travel to Nanaimo for the start of a home and home series with the Clippers.
