The Bulldogs were on the road Friday night, as they visited the Bear Mountain Arena to take on the Coastal Conference leading Victoria Grizzlies.
The first two periods were a defensive battle as Matthew Wong, for the Bulldogs and Anthony Grieco, for the Grizzlies, held both teams scoreless. In the third, the Bulldogs hit the board first when Ben Payne, assisted by James Kerr, notched his third goal of the season, on the power play. The Grizzlies fired back with three unanswered goals from Evan Pighin, Myles MacRae and Tyler Gubb to take the win 3-1.
Grieco stopped 22 shots that the Bulldogs sent his way to pick up the win for the Grizzlies. Wong kicked aside 32 shots, while being tagged with the loss for the Bulldogs.
Notes: Matthew Wong was named the Second Star of the game. Wong has been named one of the Three Stars for two straight games. The Bulldogs next action is Saturday October 11th, when Cowichan Valley visits Weyerhaeuser Arena in a rematch from Wednesday night.
