Dogs home for two more this week

The Bulldogs have two more home games this week before they hit the road next week for a three-game Interior swing. The Dogs take a record of 6-2-1 and 0 into play this week, good for 13 points. The Victoria Grizzlies make their first visit to the ?Pound tonight before the Salmon Arm Silverbacks are in town Saturday night.

The Grizzlies and Bulldogs met for the first time this season Friday night at Bear Mountain Arena, a 4-2 Grizzlies win. The Grizzlies have a record of 5-4-0 and 1 good for 11 points. They are winners of two in a row as they followed up the win over the Dogs with a 3-1 triumph over the Prince George Spruce Kings on Sunday afternoon. The Grizzlies built up a 2-0 lead early in the game with goals at the 5:30 mark by Joel Lowry and at the 7:30 mark by David Morley. Just two minutes later the Spruce Kings found the net for a 2-1 Victoria lead after 20 minutes. No scoring through the second period saw the Grizzlies leading by that same score into the final period. Neither team would be able to find the net until Madison Dias added an empty netter to seal the deal with 1:34 left in regulation for the 3-1 final.
The Grizzlies outshot the Spruce Kings 40-31 with Matt Ginn picking up the win in net. The Grizzlies went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Spruce Kings went 0 for 5.

This is the second meeting between these teams in five days so there shouldn?t be any love lost between the two sides. The Bulldogs will no doubt be looking for some revenge after the 4-2 Victoria win in their building on Friday night.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks enter play this week with a Interior Conference leading 10 and 2 record, good for 20 points. The ?Backs are tied with the Langley Chiefs for the league lead as both teams have 20 points. They will be a busy team before they visit the Dog Pound Saturday night, first visiting the Clippers tomorrow night and then the Capitals Friday night after a day off on Thursday. Like the Spruce Kings last week, the Silverbacks finish off their Island swing Sunday afternoon in Victoria.

Saturday night will certainly be a test for the Dogs, as the 10-2 record for the Silverbacks is certainly no accident.
