Gould scores winner as Bulldogs edge Capitals on the road

DUNCAN, B.C- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs picked up two big points on the road Friday night, with a 3-2 overtime win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

The Capitals would strike first and score the only goal in the opening period at the 11:14 mark. The Capitals out shot the Bulldogs 9-7.

In the second period at the 6:14 mark, Josh Zary would pot his 5th of the season to get the Bulldogs on the board tying the game at 1-1.

The Capitals would retake the lead shortly after making it 2-1. The Capitals out shot the Bulldogs 18-11 in the period.

However just 70 seconds into the third, Ryan Doolin would snipe hist 12th goal of the season off a perfect pass from newly acquired Matthew Grouchy to tie the game at 2-2.

Both teams would trade chances in the third but some highlight reel saves from Jackson Glassford would keep the game tied after 60 minutes.

In the extra frame Tim Gould would pick up a rebound at the 1:27 mark and bury it for his 4th goal of the season to win the game for the Bulldogs 3-2.

Grouchy was great in this debut for the Bulldogs picking up two assists on the night and Glassford put on a goaltending clinic making 40 saves in the win.

With the victory the Bulldogs improve to 17-13-0-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs return to the ice on Saturday to host the Chilliwack Chiefs for the Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game.

Puck drop is set for 7 PM at the Dawg Pound.
