Bulldogs fall to Chiefs at the Dawg Pound Saturday night

PORT ALBERNI, B.C- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs lost a tough one on Saturday night, 6-4 to the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Ryan Doolin would make the Teddy Bears fly just 27 seconds into the contest after he sniped his 13th goal of the season to give the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead.

The Chiefs would answer back at the 7:20 mark tying the game at 1-1.

The Bulldogs would take the lead back on the Power-Play late in the opening period thanks to a great deflection by Caige Sterzer, his 4th goal of the season.

The Chiefs would score the lone goal in the second period knotting the game up at 2-2. After forty minutes the Chiefs had the edge in the shot department 31-17.

The third period would be a wild one with six goals scored. The teams would trade goals a couple of times with the Chiefs taking the lead three times in the period.

The Bulldogs answered back twice with goals from Stephen Castanga and Jacob Bosse.

With the game knotted at 4-4 late in the third, the Chiefs would take the lead for good at the 18:34 mark making it 5-4.

The Chiefs would add an empty net goal to seal the win 6-4.

Doolin led the way offensively for the Bulldogs with 3 points (1G,2A) while Luke Pearson made 38 saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs would like to thank everyone who donated a Teddy Bear on Saturday night. Saturday was the last home game for the Bulldogs until January 3rd 2020 against Powell River.

The Bulldogs will be back on the ice, Friday in Wentachee to kick off a three game road trip before the Holiday Break. The Bulldogs will also make stops in Langley and Surrey.
