Hedquist Sets Franchise Mark with Shutout Win

Hobie Hedquist made 32 saves to earn his franchise-record 7th shutout as he moved passed Frank Slubowski in a 5-0 Bulldogs win.

Slubowski appeared in 101 games for the Bulldogs between 2008 to 2011, earning 6 shutouts over the 2 + seasons with Alberni Valley.  Hedquist recorded 5 shutouts last season in his rookie campaign and picked up his 2nd of this season in tonights win.

For the Bulldogs, the victory was the 5th straight for the club.  The win improved the Bulldogs record to 15-15-2-1 on the year.

Scoring for the Bulldogs was Ethan Bono (12), Nicholas Beneteau (11), Dakota MacIntosh (7), Will Elger (9) and Chase Klassen (6).

The Bulldogs led 2-0 after one thanks to a pair of shorthanded goals on the same kill.  The Bulldogs now lead the BCHL with 11 shorthanded  goals. The next closest teams are the Smoke Eaters and Bucks with 4 each.

The penalty kill was a perfect 4 for 4 on the night while the power play was 0 for 2.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a date with the Surrey Eagles tomorrow night.  Surrey is 2nd in the Coastal Conference and are coming off a 4-3 OT loss to the Nanaimo Clippers.
