James Kerr, a former Okanagan Hockey Academy player, currently with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL, has been selected to play for Canada West in the upcoming World Junior A Championships being held in Camrose, Alberta from November 2nd ? 9th.
The World Junior A Challenge is an International tournament hosted by hockey Canada for players 19 years old and younger.
The tournament consists of 6 teams including Canada West, Canada East, Russia, United States, Germany and Belarus over the 8 day period.
The 22 players for Canada West are made up from players the 4 western junior A leagues being the Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. Canada East is represented by provinces Ontario to Newfoundland.
This season, James, the Bulldogs Captain, has scored 3 goals and added 2 assists through the first 12 games of the season. Next season James will join the ECAC and Ivy League 2007-08 champion Princeton Tigers.
