The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce that Marcello Ranallo has committed to the University of Connecticut. To date this season Marcello has played 57 games with the Bulldogs and has scored 16 goals, a team leading 34 assists, for a total of 50 points. Marcello was acquired from the Westside Warriors mid way through last season. In 28 games with the Bulldogs last season he scored 9 goals, 16 assists for a total of 25 points.
Marcello increased his SAT score by over 250 points to respectable 1600 since joining the Bulldogs organization. This is attributed to the commitment of the organization to develop players on and off the ice as well as academically. The team's academic advisor Tom McEvay and his staff have put in countless hours working the players in all academic areas from high school, to SAT Prep, and communication with NCAA programs.
“Marcello has been a leader both on and off the ice for us this year with our young group of players. For these reasons we were reluctant to trade him at the January 10th deadline. His game has consistently improved in all areas throughout the season to allow him to be an impact player at the NCAA level next year.”
